First cohort of AI educators graduate

 


MANZINI - The University of Eswatini has celebrated the first cohort of the UNESWA Artifical Intelligence Academy (UAIA)’s Generative AI for Educators Certificate Programme.

A special cceremony was held at The George Hotel o  Friday, February 21st, 2025.  The graduation is a huge milestone in using AI to transform education in Eswatini and beyond.

The UNESWA AI Academy (UAIA) is dedicated to driving AI innovation for economic development and skill-building. This groundbreaking program equips educators with the knowledge and tools to responsibly integrate Generative AI into their classrooms, from AI literacy and prompt engineering to personalised learning and AI-assisted research.

Over 100 participants from around the world, including representatives from Eswatini, Australia, the UK, Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, and more were part of the programme.

  MAGUGA - Prince Mkhandlowemakhosi, also known as Nhlavu (traditional initiation name) joined His Majesty King Mswati III on Saturday when he toured Maguga Dam. Prince Mkhandlowemakhosi is one of the youngest princes and the child of Inkhosikati LaMashwama. The king commissioned the Maguga hydropower expansion project during the tour.  The project will see the Maguga power station produce an extra 10MW, bringing the total power capacity at the plant to 30MW.  His Majesty was also briefed about other pipeline projects around Maguga as well as on another prospective power project at Ngwemphisi, which is expected to produce 120MW of electricity. 40c per litre to go to roads maintenance

  From midnight April 4, Eswatini will introduce fuel levy to support critical road infrastructure projects. A 40 cents per litre Roads Authority Levy will be introduced on fuel prices. This announcement was made by the Ministry of Finance during the recent budget speech, aligning with the provisions of the Roads Authority Act of 2023.  The levy is designed to generate funds for essential road infrastructure projects aimed at improving safety and connectivity for all road users across the country. Despite concerns about potential fuel price hikes, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy has assured the public that the levy will not result in an increase in fuel prices. Instead, it will be allocated specifically to addressing the deteriorating state of Eswatini’s road network. Eswatini used in tracing human evolution

  The Kingdom of Eswatini has taken a prominent place in the global study of human evolution with the grand opening of the San-Bushman Display and the "Planet Africa" exhibition at the National Museum in Lobamba.  This remarkable initiative has been made possible through the support of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Archaeological Institute.
