Ministers tour Cancer Radiation Therapy Centre site

 


The Minister of Health, Mduduzi Matsebula, joined Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg, Minister of Public Service Mabulala Maseko, Manzini Regionsl Administrator Chief Gija and the chairperson of Parliament Health Portfolio Committee Sandile Nxumalo in Manzini to tour the OncAura Wellness Centre construction site.

The visit was aimed to assess the progress made since the project’s launch. Once completed, OncAura will be Eswatini’s first facility to offer radiation therapy and other cancer-related treatment services—marking a significant milestone in the country’s healthcare sector.


Minister Matsebula expressed government’s strong support for the initiative, highlighting its potential to significantly reduce the financial burden of sending cancer patients abroad for treatment. 

He also welcomed news that the facility is being constructed to meet international standards set by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which ensures nuclear and radiation safety for both workers and patients, as well as the surrounding environment.


The centre is expected to transform local cancer care and improve access to life-saving treatment for many emaSwati, while strengthening Eswatini’s overall health system.

  MAGUGA - Prince Mkhandlowemakhosi, also known as Nhlavu (traditional initiation name) joined His Majesty King Mswati III on Saturday when he toured Maguga Dam. 40c per litre to go to roads maintenance

  From midnight April 4, Eswatini will introduce fuel levy to support critical road infrastructure projects. A 40 cents per litre Roads Authority Levy will be introduced on fuel prices. This announcement was made by the Ministry of Finance during the recent budget speech, aligning with the provisions of the Roads Authority Act of 2023.  The levy is designed to generate funds for essential road infrastructure projects aimed at improving safety and connectivity for all road users across the country. Despite concerns about potential fuel price hikes, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy has assured the public that the levy will not result in an increase in fuel prices.
